About JoJo
I am a recent Classics graduate from St John's College, Oxford, with over two years' experience tutoring Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation, and Ancient History to students preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, Common Entrance, and competitive scholarship examinations. Alongside one-to-one tutoring, I have experience teaching in schools and supporting classroom learning, giving me the flexibility to adapt my teaching to students of different ages, abilities, and learning styles.
I believe that the best results come from lessons that are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each individual. My goal is not simply to prepare students for exams, but to help them develop confidence, curiosity, and a genuine enjoyment of the ancient world. By breaking down difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps, I aim to make even challenging grammar and literature feel approachable.
Whether a student needs help strengthening the basics, mastering exam technique, preparing for entrance and scholarship exams, or guidance on personal statements and interviews, I create structured lessons that target their individual goals. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and build lasting understanding rather than relying on memorisation alone.
As someone who has recently completed a Classics degree at Oxford, I understand both the challenges and rewards of studying these subjects and enjoy helping students discover what makes them so fascinating.
