About Kjersten
Hey there! My name is Kjersten, but everyone calls me KJ. I am currently a senior in college, and I am pursuing my B.A. in Global Studies. I love writing, but when the weather is nice I enjoy hiking, exploring my city, and long walks. I have worked as a professional chef for the past few years, and I love experimenting in the kitchen. I’ve taught ESL to local students when I lived abroad in southeast Asia, and I have tutored a variety of students here in the U.S. I can’t wait to meet you!

As far as lesson plans and teaching techniques go, it depends on the student. Typically, I evaluate where the student is, where he/she wants to be, and what obstacles stand between those two destinations. I will look at areas such as reading comprehension, writing style, understanding of grammatical components and parts of speech, and diagramming. Additionally, I will look over the student’s class assignments (which format the school uses) and quizzes/tests so that I can gather a better understanding of what a tailored plan would look like for him/her. I work well with homeschooled students, as I was homeschooled myself, but love a variety of learners! I cannot wait to create a lesson plan just for you or your student.
