About Valeria
As a native Spanish speaker I carry the responsibility to teach my beautiful language. I’ve tutored many Tulane students taking introductory and advanced Spanish courses. As a Colombian I take pride in teaching advanced speakers Colombian slang so they feel confident and proud of their speaking skills.

My teaching style focuses on immersion. I will always prioritize speaking and comprehension skills. Every class we will introduce new vocabulary through Spanish music, literature or film. For literacy improvement we will work with writing exercises. The complexity of the exercises will vary on your Spanish level. I encourage all my students to bring sentences and words they would like to know, the longer the list the better. For more advanced students, I will emphasize our sessions on pronunciation and slang.
