About Shergo
I am a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and university lecturer with a deep passion for music and musical education. I hold a Master’s degree in composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, and have more than ten years of experience teaching music theory, composition, and instruments. I was raised within the Kurdish, Arabic, and Turkish musical traditions, learning and performing on several instruments from these cultures.
As both a teacher and a practicing musician, I aim to help students understand music not only intellectually but also as a living artistic language. Over the years I have taught students of different ages and levels, from beginners discovering music for the first time to more advanced musicians seeking a deeper understanding of theory and composition. I value patience, clarity, and a supportive learning environment in which students feel encouraged to explore and develop their musical voice.

In teaching instruments, I combine a solid theoretical foundation, abundant musical examples, and practical exercises. Through a balance of theory and practice, instrumental technique becomes a lively and engaging exploration of music-making in real musical situations.
In a typical lesson, we review previous material, introduce a new concept or technique, and apply it through playing, listening, or musical analysis. I prepare each lesson carefully so that it matches the student’s level and goals, ensuring that learning remains both structured and inspiring.
As a composer, instrumentalist, and university lecturer with a Master’s degree in composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and over ten years of teaching experience, I bring together academic knowledge and practical musicianship in my teaching.
