I believe in making computer networking concepts intuitive rather than just memorized. Instead of jumping straight into definitions, I connect topics like the OSI model, TCP/IP, routing, and subnetting to real-world scenarios — how data actually travels from your laptop to a website, for example — so the "why" makes sense before the "how."
I use diagrams and visual walkthroughs to explain protocols and data flow, since networking is a very visual subject
I break complex topics (like subnetting or the OSI layers) into small, practice-based steps rather than long lectures
Where possible, I use simulation tools (like Cisco Packet Tracer or Wireshark) so students can see concepts in action, not just in theory
I encourage students to explain concepts back to me — this quickly reveals gaps in understanding
