Career
Construction Manager Oct 2019 to Present
Managing the process of new build housing from start on site until end of defect one year after completion. I manage internal planned maintenance and for bathroom, kitchen, electrical and gas central heating programmes.
Asset Surveyor/Quality assurance officer Aug 2015 to Oct 2019
Riverside Group

In my role as asset surveyor I deal with the day-to-day responsive repairs for general needs properties, supported and extra care facilities. Managing the day to day budget for the north east of England ensuring that void properties are available for re-let in as short a time scale as possible but still ensuring that the property is returned to the housing team in condition that it can be easily let.
Manage contractors to ensure the quality of work is up to standard, carrying out post inspections on planned maintenance and responsive repairs.
Undertake stock condition surveys ensuring that the asset register is up to date and that component replacement can be planned well into the future working in conjunction with the planned maintenance team.
I also take part in end of defects inspection helping to compile a schedule of any outstanding works that need to be revisited by the contractor to ensure the building is handed over in the condition it should be.
Since joining riverside I have forged a close working relationship with riversides development team and work with project managers on new schemes attending progress meetings and offering advice on improvements that can be made during the construction period.
Dealing with complaints from tenants ensuring that any issues are resolved within timescales set out by the organisation.
Project Officer/Team leader Dec 2003 – Aug 2015
Department for Work and Pensions

The winter fuel project is a nationally sensitive project that is a top priority for The Pension Service as a whole. During the two years was involved in the winter fuel project I ran teams that assisted in devising and delivering specific business targeted programs. This included a letter production database; workflow management spread sheets and capacity planning calculators.
While running the team on winter fuel, my other main duty was to ensure that as few as possible inbound calls were lost. The software used to monitor the volume of calls (CC Pulse), allowed me to make informed judgments on how to balance the team workload – for instance whether an agent should be doing clerical work or taking inbound calls. The volume of calls was always high with some agents taking one hundred plus calls per day – considered an exceptionally high level in comparison to our call centre on site.
As the primary escalation point for the team, I also dealt with customer complaints on a range of different matters. Most recently, my involvement in Winter Fuel was to train staff how to use the Winter Fuel database that I had designed. I was also in contact with other Pension Centres around the country assisting them in the use of the database, and had to regularly travel to the Pension Service model office in Bolton to help with testing of software.
