About Zach
I'm a university student in Reno, Nevada studying English literature and French. I spent my last semester in Lyon, France, where I lived with a French family and immersed myself in the language daily in real-life situations. Immersion completely changed learning French for me. I found that confidence and proficiency come from speaking often and imperfectly, not from memorizing every rule. I'm patient, relaxed, and structured; I adapt my teaching style to each student based on whether you're looking for casual conversation practice, a more guided approach focused on corrections, or something in between the two, I can't wait to find what works best for you. Outside of French I love lifting weights and boxing, cooking, reading, and learning languages. If you're looking for a supportive environment to practice speaking French and make steady progress, I'd be more than happy to work with you.

My lessons are focused on practical conversation, and tailored to your goals. From the first session you will be speaking French, not doing endless grammar drills or filling out conjugation charts. While I studied abroad I lived with a host family which was the most efficient way for me to learn French; as such I will focus on teaching French how it's spoken, not how it's written.
Each lesson will be structured but flexible: warm up conversation to build confidence, targeted vocabulary and expressions you can use immediately, guided speaking practice with corrections for natural phrasing, a short recap and setting a goal for next session.
Lessons are ideal for: students who want to feel comfortable speaking, travelers preparing for France or other francophone countries, beginners and intermediates who understand some French but struggle with speaking
