Hello students and parents, I'm Cam! I'm a second year approaching on third year English student at Keele University.
GCSE and A Level English exams can seem a nightmare. When there is little support, attention (as well as fun!) given to students from their English teachers at school and college, within large classes. However, I plan to develop key skills in all my students which will improve their essay writing skills, analytical and critical skills and creative writing skills, in order to achieve great grades at GCSE and A Level!
My lesson structure would be tailored to each student, depending upon their difficulties and strengths. However, I believe an hour long session is most suitable for my students to get the most out of our sessions without letting the student get bored too quickly! Each week, depending on the work covered in the session, I may set a small task for the student to complete in their own time, in order to help cement the learning objectives of each session.
As a tutor, I believe unlike other academic subjects, such as Maths and Science, English is the one subject where there is more freedom, but it is very easy for students to lose their sense of direction in the subject. My aim is to keep these students on the right path, and equip them with skills that will not only benefit them in their GCSEs and A Levels, but in their future careers!
In the past I have taught and supported many family members and friends with my teachings, who have all found my approach to English tutoring to be refreshing, lively and easy to follow.
In the past, I was tutored from a young age by several different people, and the most engaging tutors I had listened to my struggles, did not give me long lecturers, gave me constructed feedback as well as praise for good work! I now incorporate this into my teaching method.
Rates vary based on the location of the student home and travel. If address is within 12km of my home, no fees are added to travel. If outside 12km of my home, a fee of £5 per extra km for travel will be added to the fees.
