About Oscar

Helping students find confidence, creativity and clarity in English.

Hi there! I’m Oscar and I’m a Classics and Creative Writing graduate offering friendly, engaging English tuition for GCSE and A-Level students in Leeds and Bradford, as well as online.

My First-Class Honours degree has given me a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and essay structure. My studies in Creative Writing have developed my love and understanding of storytelling, structure, character and language.

Alongside my academic background, I work as an actor. This brings a uniquely creative edge to my communication, helping to make my tutoring engaging and accessible. I am consistently exposed to story and texts, and as such I have advanced my own skills in textual analysis.

I am also an amateur writer, with an aim to publish my own work one day. I hone my craft every day, and therefore I am constantly working to improve my own understanding of English and language.

I have informal tutoring experience and understand the importance of adapting explanations and lessons to suit each student’s individual needs.

But most of all, I am fun, and I will try to share my passion for learning with my students.

About the lesson

I believe that English is about much more than just passing an exam. English is about learning to express yourself, understanding others and the world around you, and discovering the incredible power of language and storytelling.

What I can help with:
- GCSE English Language and Literature
- A-Level English Language and Literature
- Essay structure and analytical writing
- Deeper explorations of literary texts
- Creative and descriptive writing
- Reading comprehension and vocabulary
- Exam preparation and revision techniques
- Building confidence in English

My approach:

I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and making mistakes.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether that’s improving an exam grade, developing stronger essay-writing skills, delving deeper into a specific text, or becoming more confident with creative writing.

Through clear explanations, practical exercises and creative approaches, my aim is to help students make meaningful progress while discovering that English can be an engaging and rewarding subject.
