About Lea
In terms of my experience, I've taught in several different settings, from University of Oxford tutorials (SPS) to lectures at the University of Westminster, where I currently teach. I have an undergraduate degree in Sociology (University of Bristol, First), an MSc in Social Policy (University of Oxford, Distinction) and a DPhil in Criminology (University of Oxford). I am currently taking an MSc in Social Cognition (an aspect of Psychology) (UCL), purely because I'm a nerd and love to learn :)
I am a HEA fellow (a higher education fellowship) and the BA Criminology course I co-run is one of the highest ranked in terms of student satisfaction in the UK.

I want my students both to learn a lot and to love the experience of learning.
I'm lucky that the subjects I teach - social sciences, criminology, psychology, research methods - are all ones that I am passionate about. I want to help you develop your skills, but also develop your own interest in the subjects you are learning about. What should criminal justice look like? Is mental illness hereditary? What does 'empathy' mean, and can everyone develop it? We are lucky to have the chance to consider these questions and I look forward to our conversations about them :)
I have also run classes on academic english and am happy to support students from across the social sciences and humanities to develop their academic writing skills as well. While writing an essay can seem like a mystifying process, there is a quite basic set of steps - a formula - that if you follow, will improve your academic writing dramatically.
My skills are best suited to those doing their A levels or other higher level qualifications, as well as those currently on degrees.
