About James
I’m a friendly, patient and approachable tutor with a strong passion for music and over 14 years of experience playing guitar. Alongside guitar, I have developed extensive experience with DJing and electronic music, particularly within jungle, drum and bass and related genres. I enjoy helping people discover their own musical interests and build confidence, whether they are picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to improve existing skills. I take a relaxed and encouraging approach to teaching, adapting lessons to suit each student and making sure they are both enjoyable and productive.

I offer guitar and DJ tutoring tailored to each student’s ability, goals and musical interests. My teaching approach is practical and hands-on, focusing on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons engaging and relevant to the music the student enjoys. For guitar, this can include technique, chords, scales, rhythm, improvisation and learning songs, while DJ lessons cover beatmatching, mixing, phrasing, EQs, transitions and developing confidence behind the decks. Lessons typically last around 60 minutes, with the pace adapted to the student. I have 14 years of guitar experience and practical experience DJing, and I aim to make lessons approachable for beginners while also helping more experienced musicians and DJs develop their skills further. Lessons are suitable for a range of ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to intermediate-level students.
