About Dr Shannon
I am a passionate A Level Sociology and Criminology lecturer with a PhD in Sociology, Masters in Criminology and Bachelors in Sociology. I work directly within further education. Therefore, I have an intimate, up-to-date understanding of exam board specifications, precise marking criteria, and the exact areas where students typically lose marks. My teaching is so highly regarded that I have been personally requested by parents to teach students.
My lessons are interactive, I aim to develop students critical thinking skills and solidify knowledge. This ensures students enter exams and complete assignments confidently.
I previously worked as a sociologist before moving to A level teaching. I also have extensive experience lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level and can communicate complex concepts and theories in non academic language to ensure understanding.

My aim in lessons is to help you understand and question the content by developing your key critical thinking skills. My classes are a space with mutual respect and collaboration to reach an understanding of the material.
Class length will vary depending on the student's needs, beginning with 1 hour with additional time as required.
My classes would suit GCSE, A level, undergraduate and postgraduate postgraduate students.
