My teaching methodology varies depending on the age of the student and on the subject. I find that giving examples to younger children helps them to remember better such as flash cards and post-it-notes as well as creating mind maps and brainstorms so that they are able to picture what they are learning. With GCSE students using practice papers is crucial so that you can get used to the mark scheme and the different key words you have to use in your work. To remember key words and specific notes, using flash cards, whiteboards (that I will bring) and structuring the way you jot down information is key to achieving good grades.
I am currently a student studying Biology, Psychology and Sport, willing to tutor GCSE subjects English, Biology and Religious Studies (Achieved Grade 8 at GCSE) and 11+ children who are leading up to their SATS. I have previously had work experience at Beam County Primary School where I assisted in English and Sporting lessons, meaning I have experience of working alongside teachers in a classroom environment therefore I am enthusiastic supportive when it comes to working with younger children. For all of my subjects I have achieved a grade B at GCSE's and I am willing to bring my own revision guides from my previous GCSE lessons to use for guidance. I have been tutored in the past and feel like one to one learning is very effective if you are struggling with any of your tasks. Preparing for exams can be stressful therefore I am only willing to tutor for 1hr 30mins after school or on the weekends with a 5 minute break to help ease any stress.
If lessons are cancelled I will not take payment as the lesson will not go on.
I have previously studied at All Saints Catholic School, where I chose to study Geography, Business and Art along with the core subjects. I got along very well with my teachers and peers inside and outside of lessons. I have my GCSE qualifications with the grades 6 in Science, 6 in English and 6 in Maths. As well as grades 6’s in Geography, Business and Art and an 8 in Religious Studies. I am willing to continue my studies further for sixth form at All Saints School starting in September.
For my previous work experience I applied to work at my former primary school - Beam County Primary - where I spent two weeks assisting teachers in classrooms and PE lessons, this was part of my work experience in year 10. I enjoyed this experience as it allowed me to interact with former teachers as co-workers and new children who were of many different personalities and ages. I was delighted to teach new skills and tricks as well as learn important ones myself. The effort and care I put into every task allowed me to return to this experience during the summer holidays where I was called back to gain more experience in a busy working environment and have my own responsibility of taking the children out of the school grounds to take them to a sporting event at Crystal Palace.
