About Ru-Yao
My name is Ru-Yao and Ru for short. I am originally from Taiwan but have lived in the Boston area most of my life. I have been playing music since I was 4 starting with violin and piano then switched to viola in high school. In between I also picked up other string instruments but decided to pursue a career in viola. I have always loved music and I love working with kids. I will help the students with anything they are struggling with. I really love helping and will do my best to help.

In my violin or viola lessons, I will focus on helping your musical journey by combining foundational technique with artistic expression. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, each lesson is tailored to your individual needs and goals. We’ll work on essential skills like posture, bowing, intonation, and finger placement to ensure you play with ease and precision. Beyond technique, I emphasize musicality, helping you connect emotionally to the pieces you play through phrasing, dynamics, and expression. Together, we’ll explore a diverse repertoire—from timeless classical works to contemporary pieces—so you can grow as a confident and passionate musician.
I am willing to give one hour lessons for either viola or violin or even both! The rate would be $85 hour.
