My teaching method is to help the development of independent learning with as much support and guidance needed to achieve this. I beliebe this helps the student to build a stonger understanding of the subject area. However I also like to chat and and find out if work load and make sure that no major difficulties are arising.
I have never tutored professionally before, however during my degree I trained as a pass leader to support 1st year students during peer assisted study sessions. Where I covered Psychology topics mostly but did spend time on academic writing and presentation skills also.
If possible if unable to attend the day before would be appreciated as prior notice, however emergencies do happen. I will only charge travel fees if I have travelled and had not been told other than that no extra charges.
BSc Psychology - University of the West of Scotland - 2015 till present
As well as gaining knowledge in the different domains of psychology I have also developed a range of other skills and abilities such as
Working to deadlines and multi-tasking
Data handling and statistical analyses methods – Having used SPPS statistical software to carry out various tests on research data collected using various methods.
Critical thinking and writing
Team working and communication skills
Carrying out research and literature searches
Carousel Training - 2001/2004
SVQ 2 & SVQ 3 Early years care and education
During this course I learned how to be an independent learner due to the course structure which was that I only attended college once per month and worked in a nursery as a trainee nursery nurse the rest of the time
While studying I have developed my skills out-with those learned through modules by taking on roles that were new and different for me. During my third year:
I was one of the student representatives for my course: the main roles were to act as a liaison between staff and students about complaints relating to the course modules, and I attended staff and student meetings to address these.
Trained as Peer Assisted Support Assistant (PASS), which enabled to me to participate in the firsts year students peer assisted study sessions to encourage them to become independent learners. I offered support for their worries and concerns.
Participating in the student and staff research programme helped me to develop a greater understanding of the research and data analyst process.
