About Ricardo
My Experience:
You'll learn with someone who has danced since I was three years old, starting when my cousins took me out to dance in the streets at the vibrant Fiestas de Cali. I then carried that spirit to Bogotá, where I lived for most of my life and practised with family and friends. That's the way to gain experience. Later, I moved to Cartagena, where I became completely mesmerised by the Caribbean rhythms and learned Champeta. This lifelong journey taught me that dancing is entirely about passion and joy, and I bring that exact authentic, stress-free spirit straight into your living room.
My mission is simple: to be the welcoming, supportive ally you need to unlock your natural inner rhythm, and discover that dancing is one of the most beautiful forms of self-expression and stress relief available to us

Hi, I am Ricardo, your Colombian dance companion.
First Lesson:
Salsa doesn’t have to be difficult. It is about passion, rhythm, and connection—not about staring at your feet or memorising robotic steps.
Many people want to experience the joy of Latin music but feel held back. Maybe you are a shy mover who feels anxious in crowded commercial studios, or maybe you struggle to find a dance partner and dread the pressure of dancing with strangers.
Then my classes are designed specifically for you. I bring the heat and soul of Colombian rhythms directly to you, creating a completely relaxed, safe, and private environment where you can find your natural flow.
Ready for your second lesson?
My Approach:
I don't teach with rigid, mechanical, mathematical counting that leaves you feeling stressed. My approach is entirely organic and rhythm-guided:
Feel the Music First: We start by listening. You will learn how to hear the underlying heartbeat of the music so your body reacts naturally to the rhythm.
Connection Over Perfection: I focus heavily on providing a steady, clear, and reassuring dance frame. You will learn how to read physical signals smoothly, making the dance feel effortless rather than forced.
Step-by-Step Pace: We build your muscle memory gradually. Mistakes aren’t failures here; they're part of the laughter and the natural learning process.
A Collaborative Journey for more experienced dancers: If there is a complex pattern, styling technique, or specific turn you’ve been dying to master, but I haven’t come across yet, show it to me! I am always thrilled to break it down and learn it right alongside you. That curiosity and shared growth are the beautiful, true spirit of salsa.
Lesson Length:
My standard private lessons are around 60 minutes long (time flies when you dance). This is the perfect duration to warm up, connect with the music, learn a new fluid movement, and practise it comfortably without feeling physically or socially exhausted. For advanced bookings or special event preparation, we can also arrange 90-minute blocks.

Solo Movers: Anyone who wants to learn salsa but struggles to find dance partners.
