About Vanessa
I am a fusion dance artist, teacher & certified yoga instructor based in Hilcrest, Durban, South Africa. I have studied various forms of dance, with a primary focus on contemporary, belly dance & latin dancing. My dance passion has taken me on travels to Brazil, the US & Mexico for intensive dance study where I had the privilege of training at some fantastic schools & learning various techniques including silvestre technique, Graham technique ( @ Martha Graham school) & completing an International program @ Broadway dance center in New York. My focus as a dance teacher is to train strong, healthy dancers & facilitate birthing the artist within each student.
Some personal words: “Dance for me is a temporary embrace with a temporary moment, & yet in this moment I am not limited by words.
A moment when I feel the fullness & quickness of life, a moment where the world can make sense. …Ultimately, I hope that through the sharing of my art, I serve others, if only through the baring of me.”

When teaching I am looking to be able to facilitate the student into finding understanding in the movement within their own body. Different individuals have different methods for learning, and so I use different approaches depending on the student I am working with. I also like to get individuals to tap into their emotional & artistic expression.
