About Jason
Jason’s love of music began in Powell River, B.C. where he studied piano and drums in elementary school, and guitar in high school. In 1996 he moved to Vancouver and enrolled in the Contemporary Music Program at the Vancouver Community College. While there he majored in both guitar and saxophone and received outstanding achievement scholarships for his work on both instruments.
With over 20 years teaching guitar, sax, and drums to students of all ages and skill levels, Jason’s relaxed approach to teaching music makes learning fun, but also garners great results in competency and confidence on the instrument.
Jason is a gifted performer as well, and plays regularly as guitarist, saxophonist, drummer, and vocalist in groups and as a solo artist.
Jason loves to share his talent and experience in the classroom, so that students may also enjoy the art of making music, and of sharing their gift with others.

Music lessons should be relaxed and fun!
As a teacher, whether lessons are for children or adults, beginners or more advanced students, I strive foremost to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere in which to learn and progress.
I find the greatest success with my students comes with structuring lesson plans toward the musical interests of the student.
As such I try to involve the student quickly in the process of choosing music to work on and exercises that will excite the interests of each individual student.
