About Swarnika
I’m Swarnika, an experienced and patient tutor who has spent over eight years helping students strengthen their understanding, build confidence, and achieve meaningful academic progress. My approach is calm, structured and highly personalised — I take time to understand each student’s learning style, strengths and challenges so that every lesson feels achievable and motivating.
I believe that students learn best when they feel supported, respected and encouraged. I create a positive learning environment where mistakes are treated as part of the process, not something to fear. My lessons are clear, well-organised and focused on developing both understanding and independence, so students leave each session feeling more capable than when they arrived.
With a strong academic background — including an MSc in Business Analytics & Management Science, an MBA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science — I bring both subject expertise and the ability to explain complex ideas in simple, relatable ways. My experience spans one-to-one tutoring, small-group teaching, and student-facing roles at the University of Southampton, where I’ve supported learners from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Professionalism, reliability and empathy are at the heart of my teaching. I take pride in being someone students feel comfortable with, someone who listens, and someone who genuinely wants them to succeed. My teaching approach is centred on clarity, confidence-building, and structured progression. I break down complex ideas into simple, logical steps and use real-world examples to help students understand why a concept works, not just how.
I follow three core principles:
Diagnostic start: I begin by identifying the student’s current level, strengths, and gaps.
Structured, scaffolded teaching: I teach concepts in small, manageable chunks, gradually increasing difficulty.
Active learning: I encourage students to think aloud, attempt problems independently, and explain their reasoning — this builds deeper understanding and long-term retention.
I also adapt my style to each learner’s pace, whether they need step-by-step guidance, challenge-based learning, or confidence support.
