About Jayna
My name is Jayna, and I am a biochemistry graduate currently working in scientific research. I am passionate about mentorship and enjoy helping students build confidence in science and math through clear, supportive instruction.
I bring both strong academic knowledge and real-world experience into my sessions, allowing me to explain concepts in a way that is both practical and easy to understand. My name is Jayna, and my approach to tutoring is centered on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorizing them. I focus on breaking down complex ideas in science and algebra into simple, clear steps that students can follow and build on with confidence.
My teaching method is very interactive and student-focused. I use visual explanations, real-life examples, and step-by-step problem solving to make abstract topics easier to grasp. I also encourage students to explain concepts back to me, because teaching something in their own words helps reinforce their understanding and reveals any gaps we can work on together.
A typical lesson starts with a quick review of previous material to strengthen retention. Then we move into the main topic, where I explain the concept in a simple and structured way before working through guided examples together. After that, students practice independently while I support them as needed. I always end sessions with a short recap and tips or strategies they can use on their own.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and ability to adapt to each student’s learning style. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adjust my explanations until it clicks. My goal is not just to help students get the right answers, but to help them feel confident approaching new problems on their own.
My lessons are designed for middle school and early high school students who need support in science or algebra, whether they are struggling to keep up, want to strengthen their foundation, or are looking to get ahead in their classes.
