About Gillian
I have worked in the fields of banking and finance, physical fitness, nutrition and dietetics, and now teaching. Despite a professional bent for the sciences, I pursue creative hobbies in my personal time, applying as much energy and passion to mastering those hobbies, as I have to my academic and professional pursuits. As a science teacher, I earnestly believe that developing the critical and creative reasoning skills required in science, is essential for the modern student; not just in studying science, but in all their academic subjects.

With an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (heavy focus on chemistry, biochemistry, food science, and human health and biology), and a post-graduate degree in secondary teaching (major teaching areas chemistry and general science), I am well positioned to tutor across a range of topics. In addition to the above, I have minors in exercise science, and creative writing. My lifelong hobbies include dressmaking, pattern cutting and embroidery, for those students struggling with their Textile course. For parents whose student(s) require tutoring in several subjects, this might provide a more cost-effective option, rather than hiring several different tutors (dependent on areas of concern)
I could be described as a philomath - with a genuine love of learning, and great passion for my chosen subjects, I try to develop a similar passion in the students I teach or tutor. Please contact me to discuss your student's requirements, and whether I may be the right tutor for their needs.
