About Angela
I’m Angela — a violist with a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music, and a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. I placed second in the American Viola Society Orchestral Excerpts Competition, served as principal violist at the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and have performed alongside members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. I was also twice invited to the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, where I later toured to Tokyo to perform at Suntory Hall. Most recently, I was invited to give a lecture recital on Amy Beach at the 2026 American Viola Society Conference in Harrisonburg, VA, featuring the national premiere of my own arrangement of her Violin Sonata for viola. Music has taken me from concert halls to conference stages, but what I love most is sharing what I’ve learned along the way — helping students build real technical confidence while discovering their own voice on the instrument.

Every lesson is built around you — your goals, your repertoire, your pace. Whether you’re a total beginner curious about the viola’s warm, rich voice or an advancing player prepping for an audition or competition, I’ll meet you where you are and push you toward where you want to be. Expect focused technical work (bow arm, intonation, shifting, vibrato), real repertoire you’re excited to play, and practice strategies that actually stick between lessons. I’ve spent over four years teaching viola to University of Rochester students and running my own private studio through the Eastman Community Music School. I teach viola and only viola — so you’re getting instruction built from the ground up for this instrument, not borrowed from violin methodology. Lessons are available online now.
