About Kimberly
I'm Kim, a social researcher and psychologist based in London. I recently completed my PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Kent, where I also spent four years teaching undergraduates in research methods and social psychology.
I genuinely enjoy the moment something clicks for a student, whether that's finally understanding what a p-value means, or seeing how a theory they've been memorising actually explains something in their own life. That's what I'm here for.
Outside academia, I work in applied research and policy contexts, which means I'm used to making complex ideas accessible to people who didn't sign up for a lecture. I bring that same instinct to tutoring.

My approach to tutoring starts with understanding where a student actually is, not just where the syllabus says they should be. Before diving into content, I spend time in the first session finding out what's clicking and what isn't, so I can target the support where it's genuinely needed.
In practice, my sessions tend to mix explanation with application; I'll introduce or clarify a concept, then work through it using real examples or past paper questions so students can see how it operates rather than just what it says. For psychology specifically, I find it helps to connect theoretical content to everyday behaviour and social situations, which makes it stickier and easier to recall under exam pressure. I also pay attention to how students think through problems, not just whether they get the right answer, because that's usually where the gaps are.
Lessons are typically 50 to 60 minutes. I find that's long enough to make real progress on something without losing focus towards the end.
I hold a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Kent, alongside an MSc from the London School of Economics and a first-class undergraduate degree in Psychology. I spent four years as an Associate Lecturer at Kent, teaching research methods, data interpretation, and social psychology to undergraduate students, which means I'm used to explaining complex ideas clearly and adapting in real time when something isn't landing.
I work with students at A-level, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. Psychology is my core subject, though I can also support students with research methods, statistics, and dissertation or thesis work across the social sciences.
