About Elena
I recently completed my doctorate in history at Magdalen College, Oxford. My thesis considered how women interacted with universities in the Middle Ages in Oxford, Paris and Bologna. Teaching has been one of the most rewarding elements of my work, sharing my passion and approach with students to help them realise their potential as historians.

My lessons are tailored to the individual student: we will work together to find ways to make learning fun and fitted to your style. Whether that’s gamifying revision through quizzes, learning Henry VII’s foreign policy through a board game-style map and pieces, or creating colourful mind maps with illustrations. Together, we will find what works best for you.
As well as support in learning and revising content, I also give a gradual approach to learning how to tackle exam questions. First, we will start by planning exam answers together, then mark your written-up answers together, until you feel comfortable writing in timed conditions. I will also help you get into the mindset of the examiner by going through exemplars of essay questions with mark schemes so you know what they’re looking for.
I have taught at university level but have also provided support to GCSE and A Level students in history and religious studies. From my extensive outreach work at the University of Oxford, I am familiar with university admissions and UCAS. I have helped students develop their personal statement and prepare for university interviews, particularly at Oxbridge.
