About Dominic
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have had had 18 months classroom teaching when undertaking the PGCE course. This was a mixture of KS1 and KS2 classes. Before this I spent 18 months as a teaching assisstant at an inner-city school in Plymouth. I have been tutoring for the past four years and am happy to provide you with references from families who children I have tutored, or am currently tutoring.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I hold a full CRB but have just applied for the new DBS. I am happy to provide you with references, in addition to these documents.

I provide lesson plans to target various ways to help progress. I use level descriptors for Key stages, in order that you can see what teachers are assessing and how we can aim to improve grades.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I tutor in English and Mathematics. My teaching experience has been in KS1 and KS2, but I am happy to tutor both subjects to the level of KS4.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
i have a BA in History (first class) from University College St Mark and St John (2009).
- How much do you charge?
My fees is £25 per hour. Within that I will provide some of the text books that may be required. I have some set books that I recommend and will supply, for 11 plus preparation. For general tuition within the area of English (or Literacy) I have a variety of teaching programmes which I can access in order to help your child.
- Where do you teach?
Tuition is always undertaken in your home. At the moment I have one spare time slot in the Plymouth area for Tuesday, one spare hour slot in the Tavistock area for Wednesday and spme availability for alternate weekends on a Saturday. I tutor between 3.45 and 7.30 (start times) each evening. In the holidays, I tutor Monday, Tuesday and Friday in the day-time, in addition to these times. This is particularly handy when the need to time-table lessons, in regard to 11+ preparation.
- When are you available?
I am available between 4 p.m and 7 p.m on week days, and some weekends. I am also available throughout the school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
7-11 years old. I am happy to teach children of any learning ability.
