About Layla
Hi! My name is Layla, and I was once in your very shoes, struggling to keep up with school. Teachers always taught me in the same way: writing things on boards and asking you to copy everything down in your notebook. Personally, I can't learn like that. To actually remember a concept, you must understand it. And traditional teaching methods don't include understanding but rather memorization. Due to this, I fell behind in courses easily at times. And I want to help kids like me, and hopefully you, to learn things for a lifetime, not just memorize something for an upcoming exam. I also help with organization, making sure you'll never miss a deadline again, effective revision techniques, and tips and tricks from an MYP alumna. :)

I teach using alternative approaches and repetitive explanations to teach students with difficulties understanding subjects or learning disabilities such as dyscalculia as effectively as possible. This includes an introduction to the topic and assisted practice questions until the student feels comfortable and confident doing the questions alone. Additionally, I help students manage and organize assignments and coursework.
I received a non-traditional MYP diploma, selecting a third science instead of an art (ePortfolio,) making my courses overall very challenging. After scoring a 49 on my MYP exams, I feel confident teaching children ages 11-16 currently in the IB middle year programme in both extended and standard level maths and all three core sciences (biology, physics, and chemistry.)
I record lessons and notes which will be shared with you for revision purposes if needed. I offer complete flexibility with lesson timings, location, and subtopics, as long as I am given a 24-hour notice.
