About Annie
I’m a professional writer, director and teacher living in Bournemouth. I’ve created work for professional theatre, schools and communities. In 2015 I graduated with my MA in Dramatic Writing Drama Centre London CSM. Since graduating I’ve staged work locally and nationally. My plays have been shortlisted for the Old Vic & Bristol Old Vic. Supported by ACE I’ve staged my new theatre monologue ‘Red HotPokers’ Camden Fringe 2022. Joyous, funny and moving’★★★ London Pub Theatre Review. In 2019 supported by ACE wrote my first children’s book ‘The Woodland Clan’ set in Purbeck Dorset. The book inspired an outdoor activity trail and I created a musical show performed in 2021. I’m looking to develop it as an animated series and currently writing my second book. My work involves working in R&D, rehearsal workshops, performance, collaboratively with actors and a team of artists. I’m a drama coach and have a successful track record in preparing students for drama school auditions. I can work on your two monologues classical & modern using my craft as a playwright/director. I work with students using my imagination to explore character, story & setting. This enables students to create a piece that is new and engaging for a panel to watch even though they’ve seen it hundreds of times. I collaborate with my students within a director/actor partnership imaginatively engaging students to explore the character’s world, emotions, objectives, to create a unique piece which shows off their skills & talents. Coaching will be like a rehearsal process where we will work together creating the pieces normally over three one hour sessions. I will use my director’s craft to hone in on developing and improving the work so it’s ready for audition. I will draw on my skills as a playwright to get students to look at text, key themes, beats of the piece and dialogue and how they can make their piece engaging, dynamic & impactful for audiences/panel to watch within the short period of audition.
