About David
I started drumming in my teens, I've played rock, funk, New Orleans, and jazz and performed at the Royal Festival Hall, jazz clubs, private functions, theatres and arts centres.
I wrote for Rhythm magazine for seventeen years, talking to the best drummers in the world about their craft, techniques, and philosophy. I've sat down and talked drums with the likes of Steve Gadd, Dennis Chambers, Billy Cobham, Neil Peart, Chad Smith, Cindy Blackman, and too many more to list here.
I took private lessons in conga playing with UK Latin Jazz legend Snowboy for three years to improve my understanding of Afro-Cuban rhythms.
I love playing the drums and want to share that joy.

I’ve spent decades playing, writing, and teaching about drums and music, including:

Perfect! David is an excellent drum teacher. I’ve been playing for 30 years but needed foundation lessons on stick control, rudiments and sight-reading. We got straight to it, quickly learning Moeller grip, on his drums. The lessons are stretching me and each week we do something new. I’m really enjoying playing for David. He is a super-nice guy too, with deep industry experience and time spent with the greats from his music journalist life. I’m glad David is my tutor and recommend him highly with my highest rating of 5 stars out of 5!
