About Jessica
I am subscribed to the Enhanced DBS Renewal service. Based in Ladywell (SE13).
I have been drumming for 12 years and have performed regularly in a range of bands, from post-punk to jazz.
I am a very patient person. I will explain and demonstrate something to you as many times and in as many different ways as it takes for you to grasp it. After all, I have been and still often find myself stuck when learning new things on the drums.
I believe that drumming is a very effective form of meditation; not only is your brain occupied, but all of your limbs, too! It helped me push through in the toughest periods of my life by providing a release. It's kind of like a superpower that I want to share with other people!

I began learning the drums at age 11, and though I am very grateful for the privilege of taking lessons, I found that my teacher's theory-focused approach just didn't suit me. It wasn't until I ditched my painful perfectionism and started learning the drum parts of my favourite songs by ear that my progress really took off.
In our first few sessions, we will work to establish a foundation of essential coordination, upon which we can build in order to learn songs that you enjoy.
If you are looking to earn qualifications, we can progress onto Rock & Pop grades, which allow more freedom than classical examinations and are offered in many schools. Happy to teach up to and including Grade 8 Trinity Rock & Pop.

Perfect! Really knowledgeable and makes the lesson fun, chucked me in the deep end a bit though . But it was actually the best idea, really enjoyed it

Perfect! I am always very anxious about learning something new so I have been very hesitant about learning to drum. Jess was super encouraging and patient with me in my first lesson so I was able to overcome my nerves and get the rhythms in my head and play them correctly. This is my second month of learning drumming from Jess now and I can’t believe how much and how quickly I have progressed! My friends all said that I looked like I was in a band when I showed them my drumming video! I really enjoy drumming and it has become the thing I keep looking forward to every weekend :)

I am happy to meet in a rehearsal studio if you are not comfortable coming to my place or the distance is too great (I am based in Ladywell). This will add £10-15 to the cost of the lesson depending on the studio's rate.
