About Matteo
I'm from Italy, been living in the UK for three years now. I originally moved for a gap year but ended up going to uni and starting my professional career in London.
I started playing drums as a very young age and at the age of 7 I was already taking private lessons.
I got into a production degree because I wanted to understand music and, therefore, drumming from the perspective of the arranger and it helped improving my playing in ways I couldn't imagine.
We could explore the history of the drum-set and understand the importance it had in shaping the sound of modern music: from Jazz to prog rock and beyond, since it's been invented the drum-set has become the beating heart of almost every composition.

Every lesson will be divided into three sections, one for technique, one for reading and one for drumming styles: it's important to learn theory and to understand what is being played, but we also need to enjoy it and acquire tools that will allow us to play with others.
I've had a private tutor for 5 years and attended masterclasses with Ralph Rolle, Eddie Thrower and Ettore Mancini.
I have experience with rock, pop, soul, funk, latin rhythms and metal. I can also play the guitar and a bit of piano, therefore jamming at the end of the lesson is always an option ( and it helps consolidating what you've learned…).
I could teach to a beginner who wants to approach the instrument or to an advanced who's struggling with Rosanna's half time shuffle.
