Find out more about Muhammad

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in finance, economics, and related disciplines began during my undergraduate studies, where I was fortunate to graduate with a gold medal in Accounting and Finance. What started as curiosity about how money flows through economies evolved into a deeper fascination with decision-making under uncertainty, risk, and value creation.
Private tutoring came naturally later. During my postgraduate and PhD journey at UiTM Malaysia, I found myself constantly guiding peers and juniors. I realized that teaching is not just about explaining concepts, rather it’s about transforming confusion into clarity. That moment shifted my perspective from being a student of knowledge to a facilitator of it.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you enjoy discussing.

I teach Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Statistics, and Research/Thesis writing. These are not isolated subjects, rather they are interconnected tools for understanding how the world works.
I particularly enjoy topics such as:
Financial Management, Investment and Risk management
Economics (Basic and Advanced), Econometrics, Mathematical Economics
Financial planning, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Business
Financial Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Cost accounting,
Statistics (Basic and advance inferential) , Research Analysis, Thesis writing Research design and transforming ideas into publishable work,
What I enjoy less is rote memorization without understanding. I encourage students to think critically, question assumptions, and connect theory to real-world applications.
  • Did you have any role models or a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, several. But what stood out was not just their intelligence, but their ability to simplify complexity. One mentor during my undergraduate, master, and PhD taught me that true expertise is not measured by how much you know, but by how clearly you can make others understand. Regarding a specific role model, I always follow Professor Nuralita and Professor Martinez.
That philosophy shaped my teaching approach: clarity over complexity, insight over information
  • What qualities are required to be a good tutor?

As a tutor, I always focus on my students to get the concepts in an easy way as well as best marks in their exams. As per my experience, a good tutor must have:
Clarity of thought – to break down complex ideas
Patience – because learning is not linear
Adaptability – every student learns differently
Empathy – understanding where the student struggles
Intellectual honesty – admitting when something needs deeper exploration
Most importantly, a tutor must shift from “teaching content” to “building thinking ability.”
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your school days.

During my early teaching experience, I had a student who consistently failed finance, accounting, and statistics. He believed he was “just not good with numbers.”
Instead of reteaching formulas, I changed the approach as I showed him how finance, accounting, statistics is simply structured thinking about uncertainty. Within weeks, his performance improved dramatically. That experience reinforced a powerful lesson: most academic struggles are not due to lack of ability, but due to the wrong approach.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject?

One major challenge is bridging the gap between theory and practice. Many students understand formulas but struggle to apply them in real-life situations.
Another challenge is mindset; students often approach subjects like finance or statistics with fear. Overcoming this psychological barrier is just as important as mastering the content.
Even as a researcher, I continuously challenge myself to simplify complex ideas without losing depth.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching or something else?

Teaching is definitely a core passion, but more specifically, I am passionate about developing critical thinkers.
Beyond teaching, I am deeply engaged in research, particularly in areas like financial governance, risk management, and system inefficiencies. I also run a business, which keeps me grounded in real-world applications. This combination allows me to bring both academic rigor and practical insight into my lessons.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these questions)?

What sets me apart is the integration of three dimensions:
Academic excellence – Teaching experience at universities and colleges, Gold Medalist, PhD scholar, Active Researcher
Practical experience – Running a business and applying financial concepts in real scenarios
Teaching philosophy – Focused on clarity, critical thinking, and real-world relevance
I don’t just teach subjects, I help students build confidence, think independently, and make better decisions. That’s what truly defines a Superprof.
