About Sean
Even though I left the teaching profession after one very successful year to work for the state of Minnesota with the mentally disabled I have always kept up with my Spanish as I had held on to some of my Spanish books from my college days. In some respects, I feel I am more fluent now than when I was a teacher because I have had more time to study and review it. I also minored in ESL when in college so many of my skills in teaching Spanish grammar come from not only having learned Spanish and how to teach it but from my training as an ESL teacher. I really think I could be of help to somebody trying to learn Spanish.

I am best suited to teach high school level Spanish. I like to teach from textbooks that introduce grammar in a building block approach. After mastery of vocabulary using index cards, I often will introduce new grammar rules using colored pencils. I often will want to help my students do journal writing to explain grammar rules learned as if they're writing for someone else to learn. For adults, if I am providing my own materials, I have duplicates of 3rd edition Vistas in which one would be sent to my students. They are first-year college textbooks but are meant for people starting out in Spanish just the same. Otherwise, if students need help on text from their class, I would try to by the same text then help them using previously mentioned methods. What has set me apart as a teacher in the past was the ability to explain Spanish grammar in English. Further lesson planning structured around the structure of text working with.
