This greatly depends on how the student best learns. But generally for maths I set work each week to test and push their abilities. For both maths and economics I ask many questions during lessons to keep my students engaged and ensure they are working things out for themselves.
I'm an experienced, passionate and driven tutor who will do everything to help my students achieve their goals! I always tailor my lessons to my students and always look for the best ways in which they learn. I have been teaching for about seven years now.
During my time at university I was a Tutor teaching Maths to students who went to the local high schools and Economics to students who went to the local colleges and sixth forms. I taught students of all abilities and have discovered new ways of approaching concepts and methods, improving my ability to teach lessons tailored to the student as opposed to homogeneous lessons. I enjoy teaching and helping students better themselves to achieve their goals in life.
Also, as a sailing instructor, teaching is a key skill which has been honed over the last few years. Developing new ways to teach both the practical and theoretical side of sailing has played a large part of my job. Teaching in a way that my students understand by listening to them is the most important and transferable skill I have from being a sailing instructor. I have taught in three different sailing centres teaching children age six and above.
Alongside teaching I enjoy performing, composing and producing my own music as well as dinghy boat racing in the Summer. I'm an interesting, relaxed and driven tutor and I will always do my best to ensure my students get the most from my lessons.

• Music Engineer (October 2018 – Present)
I am currently work as a freelance music engineer at a recording studio in Muswell Hill. I record, mix, produce and master a range of sessions across many different genres and styles of music. Producing music has given me the opportunity to teach and coach artists playing various instruments. The role has developed my ability to better musicians in a way that boosts self-confidence as well as proper technique – both important factors in making a good record.
• Mark Warner – (June 2018 – September 2018)
As a sailing instructor in a sailing resort in Kos (Greece), teaching is a key skill which has been honed in a number of environments from the classroom to the open waters. Developing new ways to teach both the practical and theoretical side of sailing has played a large part of my job. Teaching in a way that my students understand by listening to them is the most important and transferable skill I have from being a Sailing Instructor. I have taught children age five plus as well as adults.
• Whitlingham Adventure – (June 2015 – September 2017)

Volunteer and Extra Curricular History
• Band Society, University of Reading (September 2016 – June 2018)
I volunteered as the Social Secretary for the university’s Band Society. This involved planning and organising all the society’s events with the rest of committee. I also personally organised, took part in and monitored our music tutor members within the society who teach external students at the university. This role also allows me to teach music theory and guitar, further developing my tutoring ability.
• NSSA Filby Centre (May 2012 – Present)
Before I was employed as a sailing instructor, I volunteered at a different centre which taught me to sail. I still teach there to give something back to the centre which taught me to sail.
• NSSA National Youth Regatta (June 2016)
I volunteered as a Deputy Race Officer for the biggest annual youth sailing event in the country. This involved setting courses, running races and coaching the novice sailors for a week, all of which required strong organisational skills.
• Air Training Corps, 1986 (Wymondham) Squadron (September 2009 – August 2015)
I started teaching the younger, less experienced cadets when I was about fifteen until I left the Corps at eighteen. This included various lessons and activities such as drill, aviation, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, shooting and much more. Being in a leadership position from an early age really developed my confidence and ability to teach a variety of subjects and in a number of ways.
• I’m a keen dinghy sailor and have attended the Annual Youth Sailing Regatta in 2013, 2014 and 2015 with the NSSA. I’m also a member of Rollesby Sailing Club where I race regularly.
• I enjoy performing, composing and producing my own music and played with a band during my time at university. We released a couple of singles and I plan to start another band in the near future.
