About Dima
I have been a private tutor for the last 9 years teaching Maths and Economics to a variety of ages starting from primary school all the way up to university. I’m passionate about teaching and particularly enjoy troubleshooting the areas of weak understanding that students struggle with the most.

The best way to answer this question would be to say that I teach students how to think on their feet. There’s a huge flaw in our school system. This system does not emphasise free thinking as opposed to memorisation of formulae and other information. As a result when a student comes across a problem that can not be solved by any of the methods that have been previously memorised they stumble. Now they have to think and come up with their own approach to solve the problem. That skill is never the focus in school lessons unless you are lucky enough to have a teacher who understands it. My maths teacher at school used to say:”don’t focus on the formula itself, focus on the derivation, take your time to understand it”. That approach really changed the way I have been approaching learning and teaching ever since. I don’t actually teach students. I guide them so they train their brain to be their own teachers.
