About Jade

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor in my 20s with a strong academic background as an Economics student at Queen’s University, and I genuinely love both math and working with kids. I understand that math can sometimes feel intimidating, which is why I focus on creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. My lessons are structured, professional, and tailored to each student’s level — from elementary to middle school — but I always make learning engaging and fun. I break concepts down into clear, manageable steps, use relatable examples, and celebrate progress along the way so students feel proud of their growth. As a responsible and organized university student, I take punctuality, preparation, and communication seriously, ensuring parents and students can rely on me. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but to help them feel capable, confident, and even excited about math.

I am a dedicated Economics student at Queen’s University with a strong foundation in mathematics, and I tutor elementary and middle school students (Grades 1–9) in subjects ranging from basic arithmetic and fractions to pre-algebra and introductory algebra. My teaching approach focuses on building true understanding and confidence by breaking concepts down into clear, simple steps and explaining the “why” behind each solution rather than just memorizing formulas. In a typical lesson, I begin with a short review, introduce or strengthen a key concept using structured examples, guide students through practice problems step-by-step, and then allow them to try independently with supportive feedback. I emphasize organization, showing all work clearly, and developing strong problem-solving habits to help students succeed on tests and in class. What sets me apart is my patient, confidence-building approach and my ability to relate to academic pressure as a current university student, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and genuinely improving their skills.
