My approach to tutoring is centred on building confidence, understanding and independence. I believe learners make the greatest progress when they feel supported, challenged appropriately and understand the purpose behind what they are learning.
I tailor lessons to the individual, adapting my teaching style, pace and resources to suit each learner's needs, strengths and goals. Lessons typically combine explanation, discussion, guided practice and reflection, helping learners develop both subject knowledge and the skills needed to become more confident and independent learners.
I have experience teaching and leading across a range of educational settings and have worked with children, young people and adults from diverse backgrounds. Alongside my teaching qualifications, I hold a Master's degree in education, am currently undertaking a Doctor of Education (EdD), and am the author of a Routledge publication focused on inclusive practice.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes in length, although longer or shorter sessions can be arranged. I welcome learners from upper primary age through to university level, including those seeking support with academic writing, study skills, assignment planning, educational studies, professional development, confidence building, and those preparing for examinations.
Over the years, I have learnt that successful learning is about more than simply acquiring knowledge. It is about belonging, confidence and believing that success is possible. My role is to help learners develop the skills, understanding and self-belief they need to thrive both academically and beyond the classroom.
