I adopt a student-centered methodology to my classes, differentiating and contextualising to meet the individual needs of each student. I am also constructivist in approach, streamlining and spiralling the curriculum to keep it relevant, effective and to support retention and depth in the development of theory and competencies. I use a number of innovative and alternative teaching strategies to keep the classes engaging and interesting. To track progress I set a range of student-directed, teacher-led, formal and informal assessments, with the understanding that not all students shine brightest under the pressure of exams. I aim to challenge and push my students to achieve their personal best, and towards reaching their learning goals and targets.
I am a passionate and qualified lecturer, with experience of providing both education and care to residential and day students with additional learning needs in a range of colleges. I also have experience as a teaching assistant/ learning suport in primary school and SEN settings. I have lead three modules and delivered lectures to level 3 and 4 students in a university setting, with a high pass rate and positive feedback. I have a first class undergraduate degree in Education and Childhood Studies and a PGCE (PCET). I am currently completing a MA in Education part-time.
