About Mark
Hello Guitarists, I am a musician and tutor with over 25 years’ experience in playing, recording and performing with the electric guitar. I have played in a wide variety of bands and recording sessions and hold two Master Class Diplomas awarded separately by Larry Carlton and Robben Ford, two of the most respected guitarists in the world. I have also worked in the studio with bassist Pino Palladino and play in my own band that I write and produce for. You can listen to my playing at: (concealed information) - I play all the guitar and bass parts on the songs. If you are interested in hearing my lead playing, please check out Shanghai Woman and Falling. I also offer beginners bass guitar lessons. My own tastes are: Funk, Blues, Soul, Rock, R&B and Jazz Fusion. DBS cleared, I specialise in teaching beginners to intermediate, encouraging you to feel confident on the instrument and see your ability steadily grow with each lesson. Apart from getting to grips with the neck and developing your co-ordination, I will teach you about; fretting, positions, playing with a pick, right-hand techniques, timing, bending, rhythm playing, licks and chords. Any of these areas can be focussed on more or less as you wish. As an aside, I also have production and engineering experience, previously running a recording studio at the Rainbow Theatre and mixing live bands at the Rock Garden in Covent Garden. The lesson will be supportive, informal and progresses at your own pace. I do hope you will start your guitar journey with me and look forward to jamming with you! Mark is an excellent guitar teacher, he's an acomplished player and a paitent and fun guy as well. He worked at a pace I could comfortably manage and made the lessons interesting and productive. As a result my playing has improved considerably.
