Electronic servicing City and Guilds 224/HNC level For component level diagnostics, I am qualified to degree level.

Methodology

Where possible chalk and talk, this approach in my opinion, gives all students a better chance of understanding
the subject better by allowing questions for those who don,t get it first time round. Also where posable, practical skills should be instructed on eg. Soldering,. the use of multi-metres, oscilloscopes, basic test equipment use.
Basic digital\analogue design, including, BJT, 4000 series, 7400 series logic.

Experience

My background has been mostly in consumer \ industrial diagnostics and repair, including video, inverters,
white goods, basically anything with electronic control.
I am educated to degree level, Bsc Electrical\Electronic Engineering, Division 2, Salford University:
Graduated 1997, at the age of 37, having left school with no academic qualifications.

Employment History:

From leaving secondary school, to my mid 20’s, I was first an apprentice mechanical engineer with seddon atkinson , HGV truck manufactures in Oldham Manchester.

Where I learnt to weld, braze, turn, mill, fabricate, sheet metal skills, ECT.

After this I then went into the general mechanical engineering industry.

I was considered a very accomplished engineer by my work colleges and management.

In my mid 20,s the manufacturing industry went into decline and then I retrained in
Electronic engineering. Eg I went and got my city & guilds in electronic servicing.

My considerable knowledge of machines gave me advantages in this new industry, as I now became multi skilled.

When the electronics service industry collapsed due to cheap disposable electronics,
I then went to university.

After Qualifying & leaving University:

During and after university I worked as a fully qualified, tested and proven industrial electrician, with responsibility for apprentice theoretical education.

Major completed contracts include:-

Barklays banks. (Various branches):

Palace of Westminster:

University of Manchester. (Students accommodation).

IBM, Salford Manchester.

Lloytron.

After University. (Con’t):

Lloytron:
Responsible for all electronic servicing and repair of consumer devices.

Made the Co thousands of pounds by repairing all customer returns from 5 years
Previous.

David arden Developments::
My primary responsibilities in this post was to design

build and test one off TGL circuits for custom designed industrial machines,

although because of my background I was also consulted on the mechanical design.

Sea going GEO physical electronics engineer:

My job was to ensure that all

Electronic survey equipment was working, if it was,nt then repair it as quickly as

Diagnostics time would allow. This was a component level diagnostics roll, and

time sensitive elements were of foremost importance.

Again because of my engineering background I also repaired the ships electrical

And electronic systems.

Mechanical Engineer (IFR) Norwich:

Key to this roll was a wide engineering

Knowledge base. It involved, milling, turning, welding, hydraulic and pneumatic

Systems. Understanding, pipe fitting skills, single and poly phase electrical

Knowledge.
