About Elzbieta
Hi! I’m a first-year History & Politics undergraduate at Girton College, University of Cambridge. I’ve had a passion for History since I was in primary school, and have always been keen to learn more about the world around me, and improve what I know and I’m not so good at. Therefore, I want to help others do the same. Progress isn’t linear, and takes commitment and consistency - I have learnt this through personal experience. I have improved these qualities with the help of mentors, teachers and friends, adopting what I’ve been taught from revision sessions and feedback I've received from teachers to work on my weaknesses. I teach GCSE and A Level History and Politics. My previous experience includes teaching students through organising a history club for Year 7s when I was at Sixth Form. I’m looking to help you so that you can excel in exams and improve academically using the advice I’ve been given and the lessons I have learned. One of my strong suits is adopting creative strategies and tailoring them to fit individual needs and preferences. This is coming from someone who has struggled to make traditional approaches work, such as making flashcards, memorising and re-reading notes. I have progressively improved how I revise, which has been reflected in my academic performance. Therefore, I am keen to help you develop your revision skills and excel in your exams, because I know progress is possible given the proper focus and time. As for academics, I’ve achieved A*-B at A-Level including A* in History, Politics and EPQ. I accomplished 11 Grade 9-8 GCSEs including Grade 9 in History, Maths and English Literature. I’ve been described as hardworking and determined by my friends and teachers throughout my education. Having achieved an A* in the Pathway to Bath: Civil Engineering & Architecture project, I have also developed an interdisciplinary approach and developed my ability to think creatively and analytically. Taking STEM and Humanities subjects at A Level has helped me immensely and I’m also equipped to help those that are in a similar boat as I was - those hoping to improve on essay writing and their systemic approaches. As a self-motivated and organised student, I know from experience that exam technique and organisation are invaluable to excelling in your exams. I’ve been able to develop systems that work for me, and would like to help other students do the same and to realise their potential!

I take a student-first approach to tutoring - tailoring sessions to what you want to focus on. The sessions can also include going over topics students aren’t as confident in, focusing on essay writing and techniques, and recognising strengths and areas requiring improvement. I adopt an active revision approach which has personally enabled me to achieve academic success - tried and true.

It isn't everyday that you meet someone as open, welcoming, smart, and understanding as Elzbieta! We are both first years at Girton college and, having had the chance of learning alongside her for the past two terms, I can fully vouch for her professionalism, her attention to detail and her dedication to those around her that make her such a great tutor.
Whenever I have an academic question / concern she is one of the first people I go to because I know I will only receive great advice with absolutely zero judgment.
