About Umera
I have been writing since a young age, my specialty being poetry and I have an a-level in creative writing. In my hometown of Luton, I am a well-known and emerging spoken-word poet on the arts scene, having performed at numerous events. I have also co-facilitated creative writing workshops before.
I have offered informal lessons to people I know before but I would like to offer my skills to more people, and help develop individuals as writers, through these classes. I believe it is so important for people to have someone there to validate and elevate their talents so they can reach their potential, hence why I am so passionate about teaching creative writing and why my classes are open to all ages.

I am offering lessons on how to write poetry and other forms of writing, on both a creative and technical level. Also, to improve my student's vocabulary, spelling and grammar - if needed - and to get them to read more often. I make my students complete a reading log. I teach literature and poetry analyzation skills, all to help improve my student's writing abilities, expose them to different techniques and enhance their creativity. Being an experienced spoken-word poet myself, I am also offering help to those who want to improve their oral and performance skills and teach them how to write spoken-word. I teach my students how to take their life experiences and ideas and put them into words.
Lessons will be weekly, unless more or less sessions are needed a week. Each session will be an hour long and I will occasionally prescribe engaging forms of homework to push my students. It is up to you whether you would prefer private or group tuition.
