About Scott
As a guitar tutor with Bachelor’s degrees in Music, I am passionate about helping students achieve their musical goals while developing skill and confidence. I start with essential techniques such as posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone, progressing to improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is taught through practical applications, helping students understand and use concepts creatively. Each lesson is personalised to the student’s pace, goals, and learning style, ensuring a motivating and engaging environment.
I emphasise expressive playing, artistic freedom, and performance confidence alongside technical proficiency. Ear training, sight-reading, and improvisation are integral parts of my teaching. Students explore multiple genres, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, and pop, to broaden musical understanding. Structured practice routines, constructive feedback, and guidance help learners overcome challenges and stay on track. I celebrate milestones and encourage perseverance, patience, and dedication. My lessons foster curiosity, creativity, and self-expression while maintaining consistent progress. Over time, students develop a personal musical identity and the confidence to perform or compose independently. Teaching guitar is not just a profession—it is a journey of mentorship, inspiration, and growth. My goal is to empower students to express themselves fully, creatively, and confidently through music. My guitar lessons focus on building strong fundamentals while nurturing creativity. We start with hand coordination, rhythm accuracy, and chord fluency. As you progress, lessons expand into scales, melodies, and improvisation. I adapt the material to your goals—whether you love pop, rock, or blues. Theory is integrated naturally, making it practical and easy to understand.
I emphasise ear training, timing, and stylistic awareness. Lessons also include exercises that boost confidence and musical interpretation. For aspiring performers, I guide stage technique and emotional delivery. I provide feedback and structured practice plans after every session. Each student learns not just to play but to think musically. My goal is to make every learner independent, confident, and passionate about music.
