I approach each section of the course by firstly testing for previous knowledge. Based on the results of this test i then fill in any gaps that are present in the topic (or by fully teaching the section, if there is a lack of previous knowledge). Once taught i will then set questions on the topic for the student to complete to make certain the section is understood. i have found this to be the best way of teaching the GCSE Maths and Physics courses.
