About Luke
I am a secondary school English and History teacher with over six years teaching experience. I am a LC Examiner and have a passion for both my specialized subjects. I have run English language camps in Italy and Austria which focused on literacy skills through active learning. I have also volunteered in four African countries (Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana & Ethiopia) and taught English in nine projects across these four countries.
I am committed to helping my students to achieve any goal they are aiming for. Whether it is for a state JC/LC exam or simply to improve their level of English and basic language skills.

Teaching approach:
- English/History lessons are tailored towards each individual's needs. If a student is sitting their LC exams, lessons are typically tailored towards exam techniques, support in essay writing/structuring and exam timing practice. Whereas, if a student is practicing for an English language exam all levels (A1-C2) are available and in line with the European Frame of Reference. Lessons focus on the four skills of language; listening, speaking, reading and writing to cover all areas of the IELTS and other exams.
- The teaching methodology for these lessons is student centered and flexible. It allows for each person to have a voice in how their lesson is structured and what material they want to focus on.
Lesson Layouts:
- Lessons are one hour long and include a variety of activities, visuals, detailed explanations and additional work to be done outside of lessons. Corrections and resources will be made available accordingly. At the end of each lesson, there is a clear period to reflect and assess. This ensures that lessons are student centric and reach the wants/needs of each individual.
- Lessons are available for anyone over the age of 12. Language lessons cover all levels and are in line with the European Frame of Reference. English/History lessons cover both Ordinary/Higher Level for Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle.
My qualifications:
- Level 8 BAJH in English and History.
- Level 9 Post-primary Masters in Education.
- CELTA certified.
- TEFL certified (200 hours).
