I am an English Educator with my Bed hon. Degree in Education Management, Advanced Certificate in Education, National Diploma in Education and level 4 Early Childhood Development Certificate. I teach by taking the child from the known to the unknown... First establishing what the child already knows and then working with slides and visual aids, giving alot of examples to complete and practice will help improve the areas that the child is lacking in...my examples and explanations is not limited to the classroom, taking everyday life experiences and trying to apply it the scenarios, scenes and plot of literature and poetry lessons; to bring it alive in the child's mind so he or she understands the concepts and content easily. I go into detailed explanation of the content so the child understands.
I am very patient. Until a child understands a concept and is happy with the understanding of the content then will I move onto the next lesson.
My lessons are more learner centered.
I spend time explaining, giving an example and then allowing the child to work on the exercises.
In literature I spend more time with explanations and I also make sure that figures of speech is constantly taught in speech and reading. The structure and background information is important to make the child understand literature and also allow them to give their opinions and argue their stance on characters, actions and consequences.
