About Jeni
I took TOEFL training in anticipation of my move to Israel in 1996. Once there I became a qualified Berlitz language instructor. In fact, I moved up the ranks to supervise the English and French teachers!
In 2000 I moved back to Canada and got employment working with immigrants and newcomers. Knowing that language was an obstacle to ease of settlement, I began teaching English classes as part of my work.
In 2023, my job description changed so that I primarily teach English, and half the classes are in partnership with the Edmonton Public Library.
I want potential students to know that I am passionate about my work and my language. I am also respectful and curious about different cultures, and pride myself on my ability to genuinely connect with people from all over the world
I have travelled, I have one grandchild, I love my dog and I read a lot. The rest you will understand by interacting with me!.

I use various methods to increase confidence and share Canadian cultural information. We do reading, vocabulary, sentence structure, idioms and tongue twisters - variety is the spice of an English lesson! There will be minimal homework and I pride myself on being responsive to the student's particular needs.
I have worked with students and adults - all you need is a willingness to learn with me advising and supporting.
