About Andrew
I have an MA in Education from Reading University, as well as a BA in English literature from Leeds University and a PGCE.
I have taught in a range of settings including UK state comprehensive, international and independent schools. For the last twenty years I have taught at an independent school in rural Oxfordshire.
As a parent of three grown up children, one of whom has significant learning disabilities, I am especially sensitive towards the different needs of all children in the classroom.
In my spare time I enjoy making music, and have far too many old guitars and Beatles records.
I am married with three children. We have an energetic labrador/retriever cross, who makes sure we don't forget to get out for walks every day.
I am based in central England, not far from Oxford, but a long way from the sea.

I am an English teacher, originally from Hertfordshire, with thirty years of experience. I have taught children of all abilities from different backgrounds, and worked in state, independent and international schools.
It is a privilege to teach English and literature to young people. I am passionate about my subject and enjoy helping all students to reach their full potential.
I am able to quickly develop strong working relationships based on trust, respect - and good humour.
As an experienced examiner of GCSE and IGCSE for different exam boards I have a sound understanding of the skills needed for success in formal assessment.
Many students have lost their confidence in English over the last couple of years, and one to one tutoring can help to bridge gaps ands build skills back up, ready for exams.
I tutor privately alongside my class teaching commitments, and have resources built up over many years. I tutor a maximum of three students each week in 1hr slots at mutually convenient times.
I believe that all students can improve their English given the right sort of support and guidance. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you to make fast progress.
