About Samantha
Hi! I'm Samantha, I am seventeen years old and I have a strong passion for both English Language and English Literature that I am absolutely eager to instil onto others.
Currently studying A-levels, I take English Literature, English Language and Drama, and I am predicted A*, A*, A. In my free time, I enjoy watching plays, spending time with friends and family, and taking care of my two cats.
Despite having a strong enthusiasm for English, I am also fully aware that English is not everyone's favourite subject and that's okay! I am confident that I am capable of assisting any student in their English journey, no matter how much or little they enjoy the subject. My interpersonal skills and positive attitude may even change their opinions towards English.
I aim to make my tutoring sessions fun, personal, and adapted to each student's needs and areas for improvement.
11+:
In addition to English, I am also capable of tutoring the 11+ as I attended a grammar school for my secondary education.
I have previously volunteered with children both at a primary school, and at a cubs group so I am experienced in working with children, and I absolutely love helping them.

Having recently taken my GCSEs (2025) achieving grade 9 in both Literature and Language, my age helps me to relate to students and speak to them on their level, whilst also having up-to-date knowledge of the syllabus.
Although at GCSE level my exam board was Edexcel, I am capable of tutoring AQA in both language and literature. Initial discussions with the student would identify areas to focus on and an ideal target grade. Following this, lessons given would be structured around these discussions.
For students building up to their GCSE years, we would discuss particular areas of interest and areas for strengthening performance.
I am also flexible, therefore I can structure sessions around the student's preferred style of learning. I am very open to any feedback, and can easily adapt my teaching methods when necessary.
Personally, I have a true passion for both Language and Literature which I am eager to pass onto others. It can be difficult when you don't understand something explained in school, especially if the teacher has a very specific teaching style that does not work for you. I believe having it explained by someone nearer to your own age and in a different way can help.
Currently tutoring pupils at school in my role as an English Prefect. I am keen to help others and always have a smile on my face!
11+:
For an 11+ session, I would have similar discussions in the beginning to establish areas of focus. I would then help the student with practice questions for both verbal and non-verbal reasoning, guiding them through questions and examples before giving them the independence to try some on their own. Following that, I would go through the answers with them and assist where necessary. It would be possible that I would ask them to do a couple of questions for 'homework' outside the session to go through next time, however this would only ever be if they had spare time.
