I am available for everything from GCSE onwards, Literature and Language. I really believe that in 121 environments, the methodology must always be adapted to each student. My approach when it comes to a subject such as English is that discussion is the fundamental basis of better understanding. Discussing the text from the perspective of what the student finds interesting or important, and helping them by pointing to areas I believe to be of significance. From there, building on essay writing skills will help solidify the skills learned into a structured argument.
I am an English Literature graduate with a BA from Durham University and an MA from Lancaster University, two of the best universities in the country with world class English departments. I began tutoring in 2017, then took around 18 months out after I finished University. I have recently began work again as an Online English Tutor with Educastream, and am hoping to expand my teaching hours and attract more students. I am an experienced and qualified tutor with a friendly attitude and a devotion to helping students get the most out of my teaching.

Perfect! Excellent lessons - aiming for top grades! Sam has really helped me through my GCSE English exams. He helped me plan and write essays, how to think differently about questions and texts and how to score high grades. He's been great about analysing my work and sees things that I just hadn't considered.
His experience of English shows in his depth of knowledge and broader understandings of historical contexts, authors and poets.
He is very easy to chat to and professional about how he behaves. I'm very happy that I booked Sam and will definitely return to him for A Level English tuition.
Was great to talk to Len today and set out an agenda for our sessions
Perfect! An excellent lesson with Sam. I am studying Romeo and Juliet for English Literature at GCSE level and I wanted more insight into preparing essays.
Sam is cheerful, very knowledgeable and explains ideas in a very understandable way. He gave me new ideas about the text that I had not considered. Next time, we will look at structuring an essay and I'm looking forward to it.
I would definitely recommend Sam based on my experience of his teaching, his personality and his value for money (excellent!)
Great intro discussion with Richard
I cannot stress how helpful Sam has been! I looked for a tutor when I needed a GCSE tutor to help me pass English. Not only did sam help me to pass my English GCSE (which got me into uni!) but he also helped to ignite a love of reading I didn’t know I had, it is now a genuine hobby and it definitely stems back from Sam’s lessons. He was so engaging and it was nice to have an engaging discussion and then Sam would direct it back to the syllabus without me even realising, it’s a really clever learning style that worked so well for me. He was always punctual, engaging but most importantly he was encouraging and supportive throughout and above all else I got the grades I needed! Thanks for everything Sam!
Sam is extremely knowledgeable and patient with students. He’s punctual and always encouraging and supportive when students are learning new material.
