I am a qualified SENCO at a mainstream Secondary School and I have also taught for a number of years in a Special Needs School. I teach children from KS3- GCSE and I am passionate about supporting children to achieve their goals whatever challenges they may face along the way.
I teach KS3 and KS4 students, although I specialise in AQA for GCSE level I can adapt to any exam board and tailor my sessions to suit the needs of the student. I am able to teach students with complex additional needs and students without.
I am knowledgeable with the KS3 and 4 national curriculum and I also understand the importance of gap filling where there is a knowledge gap and over learning to embed knowledge.
I am organised, welcoming and friendly in both my classroom practice but my 1:1 tutoring. I allow children to explore and learn from doing; guiding them along the way.
I believe in task and finish activities and setting achievable goals so tasks are not open ended and get completed. I allow pupils to see the meaning behind the work set and to have a lead on what work they would like to focus on to ensure it is purposeful and promotes motivation.
I currently teach English to all Key Stage's from year 7 to year 11 .
I am also a qualified SENCO in a large secondary mainstream school.
Alongside my SENCO role and English teaching role I also complete weekly 1:1 tutor sessions for pupils with varying needs and barriers to their potential.
For instance a child in year 10 with complex medical needs, reduced attendance wanting to achieve a grade in his English GCSE to a year 9 student (I have supported since year 7) who is currently on target to achieve a grade 7 and wants to develop the skills to increase this grade.
